Meredith College will offer a Community Day of Dance on Saturday, January 21, 2012. The event is a fundraiser for Meredith’s chapter of Nu Delta Alpha, a national honor society for dance.
The Meredith College Community Day of Dance gives dancers in the community a chance to take classes and share their choreographic works with Meredith dance students.
Classes will include beginning to advanced levels of modern, ballet, jazz, tap, and classes for children specially designed to introduce them (and their parents) to dance class. Advanced modern and yoga for dancers will also be offered to advanced dancers age 17 and up.
Each 45-minute class costs $15 and 90-minute classes are $20 each.
The schedule is as follows:
8:30 a.m. -12 noon registration open
Jazz: beginning, ages 6+
Introduction to dance, ages 6-10
Tap: intermediate/advanced, ages 6+
Jazz: intermediate/advanced, ages 10+
Introduction to dance, ages 2-5
Tap: beginning, ages 6+
Modern beginning ages 6+
Modern intermediate/advanced, ages 10+
11:15 a.m.-12 p.m.
Ballet: beginning ages 6+
Ballet: intermediate/advanced, ages 10+
12 -1:30 p.m.
Intermediate/Advanced Modern for adults (17+) taught by Associate Professor and Director of Dance Carol Finley
