Meredith College Launches Haiti Relief Efforts
The Meredith College community has launched several efforts to raise funds for earthquake relief efforts to support Haiti.
The Meredith Association of Natural Sciences is collecting donations for the American Red Cross. If you would like to donate to that organization please contact MANS at MANS@meredith.edu. The organization began collecting donations on Friday, and will also have a table set up in the Cate Student Center on Monday, Jan. 18, and Tuesday, Jan.19 from 10 a.m. -2 p.m. Donations can also be dropped off in the collection jar in 202 Cate.
The Meredith College Student Government Association organized Change for Change in Haiti, a fundraiser that will take place Wednesday, Jan. 20 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Locations are the Atrium of the Science and Mathematics Building, Jones Chapel, the first floor of Cate Center, The Office of the Vice President for College Programs in 111 Johnson Hall, and the Office of Student Leadership and Service in 202 Cate Center. Donations can also be made at Meredith's Martin Luther King, Jr. Worship Service at 10 a.m. in Jones Chapel.
SGA is also asking that community members wear red and/or blue on Wednesday to show support for Haiti in this critical time. Click here for more information.
Meredith alumnae Meghan Griffith and Grayson Gant are raising money for Hearts with Haiti and other relief organizations. They have organized a fundraiser with 100% of the proceeds going to three non-profit organizations all involved in the Haitian disaster relief effort.
This event will be held January 24, from 4-6:30 p.m. at Gateway Yoga for a Playshop for the afternoon, featuring LIVE Haitian Inspired Drumming by local musician Jubal Creech. Click here for more information.
Griffith and Gant are also making pins that you can purchase for a minimum $1 donation. They are asking people to wear these pins to show their support. All proceeds will go to Hearts with Haiti.
