Meredith College is Going Strong in Honor of Founders’ Day

Meredith College has been going strong for nearly 123 years. Celebrate during Going Strong Week, which honors the College’s founding on February 27, 1891. Meredith students, faculty, staff, and alumnae are invited to participate in this series of special events commemorating the College’s past and strong future.

Going Strong Week began with the 2014 Woman of Achievement Lecture on Monday, February 24, followed by Meredith Pride Day on February 25. On Meredith Pride Day, Meredith community members were encouraged to show their pride by wearing Meredith apparel.

Remaining Going Strong Week activities are:

Wednesday, February 26  – Support the Avenging Angels
Meredith Avenging Angels Lacrosse vs. Virginia Wesleyan
5 p.m., Meredith Athletic Complex

Food trucks will be on site, and members of the 1891 Club will be distributing pom poms to all Avenging Angels fans.

Thursday, February 27 - Founders’ Day Celebration
3:30 p.m. – 5 p.m., Johnson Hall Rotunda

Celebrate Meredith’s 123rd birthday. Hear from President Allen about how Meredith College is Going Strong and getting stronger. The celebration will include a unique Meredith College Going Strong giveaway for the first 123 attendees, and special Founders’ Day refreshments.

Share Your Strong Video and Photo Contest (through March 17)

How do you SHARE YOUR STRONG? Make a video or take a photo that shows how you represent Meredith College and how Meredith College made you strong. Submitted videos and photos may be featured on Meredith’s website and/or the Meredith YouTube channel, and the College’s social media, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Faculty and staff are encouraged to participate in the video and photo contest.
