Meredith College Announces $75 Million Campaign Goal

After a week spent celebrating its 125th anniversary, Meredith College announced plans to raise $75 million through its Beyond Strong fundraising campaign, ensuring a strong future for the Southeast’s largest private women’s college.

As the campaign enters its public phase, the College has raised nearly $52 million, surpassing the previous campaign’s total by more than $10 million.

“Meredith College will continue to evolve as she always has, with a clear sense of moral purpose, within a culture of collegiality and community, and with a confident spirit of Going Strong.” President Allen said. “As we launch the public phase of this campaign, I thank [supporters] not only for being with us today, but for being with us. For 125 years, and the next 125 years, your dedication and generosity will not only keep us Going Strong, but move us Beyond Strong.”

Beyond Strong |The Campaign for Meredith supports six priorities identified through the College’s strategic plan: educational excellence, optimal enrollment, enhanced financial strength, cutting edge facilities and technology, greater visibility, and enhanced quality of life.

During the Friday celebration, President Allen also announced that in this anniversary year, the College’s Woman of Achievement Award would go to all Meredith College alumnae. Claire Sullivan Slaughter, president of the Meredith College Alumnae Association, accepted the award on behalf of alumnae.

“Today, we honor these women for all the things they are,” Allen said. “They live their lives with strength, and honor, and passion. They serve – and lead – our communities, corporations, and non-profits with all the creativity, intellect, courage, and high standards that their education instilled. For 125 years, they have inspired others.”

During the 125th celebration week, Meredith College held its first 24 Hour Giving Day on February 23. The Make It Count for Meredith campaign raised more than $277,000 in one day. This fundraising effort surpassed its initial goal by 222%.
