Meredith College will hold Honor and Integrity Week, February 8-12, 2010. The week is sponsored by Honor Council to raise awareness about the College's Honor Code and to promote integrity.
All members of the Meredith community are invited to participate in the following events.
• Reaffirm Your Commitment: The Honor Pledge will be on display in the Cate Center 1st floor lobby all week. Members of the Meredith community are invited to sign the pledge to reaffirm their commitment to Meredith's Honor System.
• Mock Trial: Curious about what goes on behind the doors of Honor Council? Join members of the council in a mock hearing and ask questions about the process on Monday, February 8 at 10 a.m. in Kresge Auditorium.
• Movie and Discussion: "Shattered Glass" on Tuesday, February 9 at 7 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium. Candy, snacks and sodas will be provided. The film and discussion will qualify as an academic / cultural event for general education.
"Shattered Glass" is the true story of Stephen Glass, a young staff member for magazines such as the New Republic, who dazzled readers and editors with his award-winning journalism. In 1998, much of Glass's work was found to be fabricated. The movie focuses not only on Glass but magazine editor Charles Lane who detects the dishonesty and Glass's friends and colleagues who defend Glass's journalistic and personal integrity.
•Drop-In Dialogue on Integrity: On Thursday, February 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in 2nd Cate Center. Bring your lunch and join faculty, staff and students in a discussion on issues related to academic integrity, Honor Council process, plagiarism detection software, and more.
