Alumna Wins Regional Award for Work in Special Education

Meredith College alumna Amanda Hummel, ’03, has been recognized for her work in special education.

Hummel, a special education teacher at Hilburn Academy in Raleigh, N.C., was honored on April 11 with a Lara Jane Parker Excellence Award from the New Voices Foundation, an organization that advocates students with severe communication and physical challenges. Hummel was one of four special education teachers from the Triangle honored by the New Voices Foundation.
