Alumna Featured in Oprah Magazine

Cookies for Kids Cancer, the non-profit founded by Meredith alumna Gretchen Holt Witt, ’89, is featured in the December 2009 issue of Oprah Magazine.

The charity’s cookies are on the magazine’s list of Gifts that Give Back. Click here to read the article.

Cookies for Kids Cancer is an effort that uses cookie sales to raise awareness and money to support pediatric cancer research. The organization encourages individuals to hold bake sales for Cookies for Kids Cancer, and cookies are also available for sale on their web site.

Witt and her husband started the non-profit after their son, Liam, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2007.

In addition to Oprah Magazine, Cookies for Kids Cancer has also been featured in holiday gift guides in Family Circle, Parade, Ladies’ Home Journal and Redbook.

Meredith College has also supported the organization. A bake sale was held during the September opening of Meredith’s new athletic complex, and proceeds from this year’s Cornhuskin’ Penny Barrel competition were donated to Cookies for Kids Cancer. Through a matching gift program, Meredith’s donation equaled $800.

Cookies for Kids Cancer will also be part of the Alumnae Market during Alumnae Reunion Weekend in May.
