Our mission is to prepare educators with
the knowledge, skills and values to
teach all students. With a foundation in
the liberal arts, Meredith College
students are transformed by a rigorous

art of teaching. We develop teachers who
embrace their significant role in a
diverse society.
The outstanding teacher education
programs at Meredith build on our rich
history in teacher education while
concentrating on the needs of
contemporary society. The Department of
Education at Meredith College is
committed to developing teachers who are
ready to address modern day issues such
as culturally diverse classrooms,
at-risk students, and the effective use
of technology. Our program
graduates know the importance of
understanding content, demonstrating
leadership, making relevant connections
to their students, continuous
assessment, and reflection. With
education a leading issue in the state
of North Carolina and the nation, the
teacher education program at Meredith is
committed to developing effective
teachers who can work in collaboration
with other educational stakeholders to
problem-solve in P-12 school settings.
