We'll all be going to a powwow*.
We need you to research powwows & tell us about them. What is a powwow
anyway? When did they start having powwows? What are those guys (and sometimes women) singing? Why are
the dancers wearing such different kinds of regalia? Is any of the
regalia symbolic? Why do dancers sometimes wear numbers? When did
powwow dancing start? Is is the same in North Carolina as it is in
North Dakota? What is a Hoop Dancer? What's a jingle dress? Grass
Dancing, what's that? Fancy Dancing? How can we find out about powwows we
can attend? If you want, you can interview some dancers or singers in the
area...
