MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS 2008-2009
Meredith College is pleased to be able to offer several excellent scholarships in music. Awards range from $500 to $7,500 per year. Each of these scholarships, which may be combined with other academic scholarships or additional financial aid, is renewable for four years.
Scholarships in Music
If you are an entering freshman who intends to major in music, we encourage you to compete for one of Meredith's attractive music scholarships. The following scholarships are offered each year to entering freshman music majors:

The Adelaide Sink-Dorothy Sink Sykes Scholarship
Music Talent Scholarships
To Qualify for a Music Scholarship:
- You must be admitted to Meredith College;
- You must complete a Talent Scholarship Application, including an essay stating your goals and a letter of reference from a music professional familiar with your work in music; and
- You must audition for the music faculty prior to February 1, 2008.
- To receive and retain a scholarship, you must major in music.
Music Scholarship Competition
After the initial music audition, potential scholarship winners will be invited to return to the scholarship competition. The date of the scholarship competition for the 2008-2009 academic year is February 17, 2008. To be considered for a scholarship, you should have been admitted to Meredith by that date. To receive and retain a scholarship, you must remain a full-time music major, maintain at least a 3.0 grade-point average on all music courses taken at Meredith, and fulfill all requirements for music majors, including those in your specific applied study.
If you are invited to return for the scholarship competition, you may perform the same repertoire that you presented in your audition. In addition to performing in Carswell Concert Hall for the music faculty, you will have one or more interviews with faculty committees. You will also meet finalists competing for other merit scholarships (Presidential, Honors, Interior Design, Art) during this exciting weekend.
Scholarships for Graduate Students
The following scholarships for graduate students are awarded on the basis of academic record, musical ability, evidence of achievement, and evidence of potential: the Beatrice Donley Voice Scholarship, the Musical Arts Guild Scholarship, and the Harry E. Cooper Scholarship.
