MEREDITH FACULTY RECITAL
Monday, February 22, 8 pm, Carswell Concert Hall
Meredith music faculty will present a recital of Chopin’s works followed by a party to celebrate Chopin’s 200th birthday! Tickets $10.

FINAL ROUND of CHOPIN COMPETITION
Tuesday, February 23, 1–5 pm, Carswell Concert Hall
Finalists ages 15–19 will compete in Meredith’s first Chopin Piano Competition, judged by Walter Hautzig and Ann Schein. A winners’ recital will immediately follow the competition. Tickets $10.

COLLEGE WORSHIP SERVICE "FRIENDSHIPS AND LEGACIES"
Wednesday, February 24, 10:00 am, Jones Chapel
Frederic Chopin left the world one of its most enriching musical legacies. The Music Department celebrates the 200th anniversary of his birth with a week-long celebration of his life and music. Join distinguished guest artists Walter Hautzig and Ann Schein as they share the stage in discussing their common lineage to Chopin via their teacher Miecyslaw Munz. Experience the power of friendship as these two artists discuss their decades long association with one another. The tapestry of their friendship is made more poignant by the ways in which their lives have been touched—directly or indirectly—by the Holocaust. There is no cost for this event.

Distinguished pianist Ann Schein will play works of Chopin and Schumann. Tickets $25. 

PRECONCERT LECTURE, DR. MARK FOUNTAIN
Wednesday, February 24, 7 pm, Carswell Concert Hall
Dr. Mark Fountain, Honorary Consul, Republic of Poland, will present “The Musical Milieu in Warsaw in the Years of Chopin's Youth, 1810–1830.” There is no charge for this event.

MASTERCLASS, WALTER HAUTZIG
Wednesday, February 24, 4:30–6:30 pm, Carswell Concert Hall
Students will perform works by Chopin in this masterclass led by distinguished concert pianist Walter Hautzig. Tickets $10; free to Meredith students, faculty and staff.

GUEST RECITAL: WALTER HAUTZIG, piano
Thursday, February 25, 8 pm, Jones Auditorium
Legendary concert pianist Walter Hautzig will perform works of Chopin. Tickets $25. 

PRECONCERT LECTURE, DR. MARK FOUNTAIN
Thursday, February 25, 7 pm, Carswell Concert Hall
Dr. Mark Fountain, Honorary Consul, Republic of Poland, will present "November Uprising" of 1830, the "Great Emigration" to Paris, and Chopin. There is no charge for this event. 

POLISH FOLK DANCES
Thursday, February 25, 1 pm, Carswell Concert Hall
A demonstration of Polish folkdances will be presented at the weekly Student Recital at 1 pm, Carswell Concert Hall. Wear comfortable attire. There is no admission charge.

GUEST RECITAL: RICHARD REID, piano
Friday, February 26, 8 pm, Carswell Concert Hall
Local artist Richard Reid will perform a selection of Chopin’s ballades, etudes, waltzes and scherzos. Tickets $10.

STUDENT RECITAL, Saturday, February 27, 7 pm, Carswell Concert Hall
Meredith College and School of Music students will perform works of Chopin. Concert is free and open to the public
