Meredith Rings the Belles
Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith basketball team improved their home record to 2-0 as they defeated Bennett 84-51. Meredith finished their non-conference schedule with a win over the Belles.
Meredith (4-3) started the scoring with a three pointer by Courtney Kreber and never looked back and kept the lead over Bennett (0-4). The Avenging Angels held a 37-14 advantage at the half.
Meredith was led by Megan Rahn with 26 points, five assists and three rebounds. Whitley Turner pulled down 10 rebounds to go with her six points. Brittany Cornelius added a solid effort with 12 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Hunter Johnson had eight points and four rebounds. Meredith had a balanced scoring effort with seven players scoring six or more points.
Meredith next travels the weekend of December 13-14 to start their USA South Athletic Conference schedule against Mary Baldwin and Shenandoah.

Meredith in Second Place of Fall Presidents Cup
Fayetteville, N.C. - The fall 2008-2009 USA South Women's President's Cup Standings have been released. Meredith College finished in a strong second place position with 18.5 points and the highest women's college by a large margin with over a 10 point lead. Meredith was helped along by a second place finish by soccer, a fifth place finish by volleyball and a four place finish by cross country. Last season, Meredith finished with 15 points in the fall season.

The USA South Athletic Conference President's Cup symbolizes the league's top overall athletic program each year. As of the 2005-2006 school year, there is a separate men's and women's Cup as well the overall cup. Points are distributed based on the number of schools sponsoring the particular sport.
Rahn Named USA South Rookie of the Week
Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference released their player of the week awards. Megan Rahan was named the USA South Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week.

Megan Rahn, Meredith -The sophomore guard/forward from Raleigh, North Carolina, in her first season of collegiate basketball, helped the Avenging Angels capture the Wilson College Basketball Tip-Off Tournament Championship with two victories this past weekend. In the two games, Rahn averaged 21.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 1.5 assists per contest. In a 73-43 win over Penn State-Abington, Rahn contributed a game-high 20 points with five rebounds, three steals and two assists. In a 96-36 victory over host Wilson, Rahn tallied game-highs in points and steals with 23 and six, respectively. She also added four rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot in the victory. For her efforts, Rahn was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
