Meredith to Host Women's Leadership Conference

By Melyssa Allen

Meredith College will host the Women in Leadership Development (WILD) Conference on Saturday, Nov. 11. Nearly 100 students from local colleges and universities are expected to attend.

The mission of the WILD Conference is to inspire, develop and empower a diverse community of collegiate women as leaders. This is a one-day women's leadership conference for students in the Triangle area. The conference will focus on educational topics related to women's leadership, including sessions on stress management, career development, dealing with change, and feminism and leadership.

Nancy Hunter Denney will be the keynote speaker for this year's conference. Denney is a nationally recognized author, leadership trainer and educator who seeks to inspire in others a personal sense of responsibility for serving a greater social good. The keynote speaker is sponsored by Meredith's Sloan Family Student Leadership Program.

Students from Meredith, Peace College, NC State University, Shaw University, St. Augustine's College, Duke University, N.C. Central University and UNC-Chapel Hill will attend the conference.

The WILD Conference is being held in conjunction with Meredith College's yearlong campus theme, "The Status of Women: Our Future, Our Responsibility."
