Meredith College Interior Design Program Reaccredited

Meredith College’s interior design program has recently been reaccredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). The program has been accredited since 1994.

The report from the accrediting organization said Meredith’s “interior design program leading to the Bachelor of Science degree meets Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) Professional Standards and has been awarded accreditation for a term of six years, effective July 2007. The Accreditation Commission is pleased to recognize your program for this achievement.”

Meredith has the only CIDA accredited interior design program in the Triangle area. The College’s interior design major provides opportunities for students interested in residential and commercial design.

“When students are looking at interior design programs one strong measure of the strength of the program is CIDA accreditation,” said Martha Burpitt, Meredith’s interior design program coordinator. “Accreditation is stating that the program prepares students with a strong foundation in interior design for an entry level position within the industry and the industry is very aware of this measure.”

Established in 1970, CIDA (formerly know as the Foundation for Interior Design Education Research) is an independent, non-profit accrediting organization for interior design education programs at colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.
