Freshmen Honors Students to Start Year with “Birdhouse Blitz”

Two days after moving into their new homes on campus, Meredith College’s newest Honors students will participate in a service project that will help generate new homes for others.

Meredith’s freshmen Honors students are teaming up with Meredith’s Habitat for Humanity chapter for a “Birdhouse Blitz,” in which they will build 30 birdhouses in one night. Honors Program faculty and student advisors will also participate.

The event will take place on Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., in the atrium and courtyard of Meredith’s Science and Mathematics Building.

The birdhouses will then be sold for $20 each, with the funds raised benefiting Habitat for Humanity.

The Meredith College Honors Program will welcome 35 new members this year. This is the largest group of freshman honors scholars in the history of the program.
