Class of 2011 Breaks Records for Meredith College
The Meredith College Class of 2011 arrived on campus August 18, 2007, and has already made an impact.
The class of 464 freshmen has broken the record for the College’s largest ever freshman class. The previous record was 454, which was set in 2006.
Meredith’s freshman class has steadily increased since 2003, when the College had 332 freshmen.
The Class of 2011 includes 35 new members of Meredith’s Honors Program, the most in Meredith’s history.
These include the College’s first two recipients of the Alumnae Legacy Scholarship, Meredith’s first full academic scholarship, and three new presidential scholars. Meredith also has 22 new Teaching Fellows.
Meredith’s newest students hail from 14 states, including Connecticut, Maine, New York, New Jersey, Ohio and California. Meredith will welcome international students from five countries—Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea.
The incoming class also reflects the College’s continued efforts to increase diversity, with an estimated minority representation of nearly 22 percent.
