Reception to Celebrate Mural at Royal Bakery Mall
After two years of preparation, a new mural designed by a Meredith student is ready to be unveiled. An opening reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2007, at the site of the mural, Royal Bakery Mall, located on Hillsborough Street across from Meredith.
The mural, which was created to honor and recognize North Carolina women who have made significant contributions, is the work of Sarah Richards,’06, who designed the mural while she was a graphic design student at Meredith.
Anthony & Company, the managing company of the Royal Bakery Mall, awarded a $2,500 commission to Richards, one of 20 students in the Graphic Design Studio classes who submitted designs for this mural competition during the fall of 2005.
After graduating from Meredith, Richards continued working with Exhibition Resources to scan and output the digital composition for the mural.
Louis Sinclair of Anthony & Company is the mural sponsor. He is part owner of the Royal Bakery Mall and has many family connections to Meredith. The Art Department hopes to continue the association with the Royal Bakery Mall.
