Alumnae to Simultaneously Serve as Board of Trustees Chair, Vice Chair for First Time in Meredith History

Alumnae were named chair and vice chair of Meredith College's Board of Trustees at the Board's spring meeting, held March 30-31. This is the first time in Meredith's history that alumnae have simultaneously held both leadership positions.

Gigi Jackson Giersch has been elected chair of the Board of Trustees and Elizabeth Triplett Beam was named vice chair. They will serve one-year terms in these positions.

Giersch, of Raleigh, is the retired CEO of Jackson Mattress Company, in Fayetteville. She has served Meredith College as vice chair of the Board of Trustees, as a member of the Board of Associates and the Alumnae Legacy Scholarship steering committee, as Alumnae Association president, and as a class agent. She is also a member of the steering committee for The Campaign for Meredith, the largest fundraising campaign in the College's history. Giersch is a 1962 graduate of Meredith College.

Beam, of Raleigh, is the chairman of the department of fine arts at Saint Mary's School and is director of chorale activities, in addition to being artistic director of the Cardinal Singers, a women's ensemble sponsored by the City of Raleigh. She is a 1972 graduate of Meredith College and she holds a master of music education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Beam has served Meredith College as a trustee, the Alumnae Legacy Scholarship steering committee and Alumnae Association Board of Advisors member, and Alumnae Association president. She is also a member of the steering committee for The Campaign for Meredith.
