Ways We Work For You
News Stories and News Releases
The Office of Marketing and Communications serves as the official channel for delivering college news to local, state, and national media services. Using established media contacts, our office coordinates publicity of Meredith College news and events.
If you have a unique story to tell, information that affects a broad range of people, or if your department is hosting an event that is open to the public, contact our office and we will determine how to best provide the story to the media. Send story ideas and event information to Melyssa Allen at 919-760-8087 or allenme@meredith.edu by email.

Student Award Announcements
The Office of Marketing and Communications is happy to publicize the achievements of Meredith students. In order to generate press releases regarding student awards and achievements, Meredith students must have a signed and updated media card on file in our office. These cards are available in the Marketing and Communications office in 331 Johnson Hall.
- Calendar Events and Public Service Announcements
The Marketing and Communications staff members have established media contacts, through which to publicize Meredith College events. Send complete information, including date, time, location, cost and a brief description of the event, along with contact information to the Marketing and Communications office as early as possible. Most monthly publications require information to be submitted during the first week of the month prior to publication (six weeks before you want to see it in print). Daily publications, such as The News & Observer, prefer to receive event information at least two weeks in advance. - Publicity Planning
Some campus events warrant more than a public service announcement. Contact the Marketing and Communications office as soon as an event is scheduled and we will determine how best to publicize the event. We can help you target your publicity and disseminate information to the right audiences for maximum coverage.

Institutional Publications
The Marketing and Communications staff members also serve as the editorial staff for the following College publications: Meredith magazine, In a Nutshell, and Meredith Writes Home. We accept story ideas and submissions for each publication. To have your story idea or submission considered for inclusion in one of the publications below, please e-mail Kristi Eaves-McLennan.
- Meredith Magazine
Published three times annually, Meredith is an award-winning magazine that is mailed to all constituencies of Meredith College, including alumnae, parents of students, board members and friends of the College. The magazine includes news articles; feature stories; a "Newsmakers" column highlighting major awards and accomplishments of members of the Meredith community; and a "For Our Readers" column that announces events that are relevant to the publication's audience. - In A Nutshell
The newsletter for all employees of Meredith College, In A Nutshell is published ten times annually (with combined June/July and December/January issues). In a Nutshell includes news articles, a monthly events calendar, and notes highlighting faculty/staff awards and accomplishments. Submission deadlines are the 30th of each month prior to the month of publication (i.e. March 30th for April publication). - Meredith Writes Home
A newsletter informing parents about College events and people, Meredith Writes Home is published bi-annually. Meredith Writes Home contains profiles on staff and faculty, feature stories, campus news, letters from students and important calendar information.

Brochures, Flyers, Invitations, and Posters
The Office of Marketing and Communications will produce any college publication needed, but because of workload and priority projects, it is necessary that appointments be set with our staff to assure timely project scheduling. Generally, a minimum of two weeks is required to design a project. To ensure prompt completion, contact our office for more information on publication requirements and scheduling.
Off-Campus Materials
Meredith College has committed significant resources to defining our institutional vision and image. The Marketing and Communications Office is charged by Meredith's senior administration with consistently promoting that image. Independent production of off-campus communications materials is strongly discouraged by the College's administration.
All student projects that involve the development of promotional materials for Meredith College or for the College's programs or events must be routed through the Office of Marketing and Communications. Contact the Marketing staff prior to beginning the project. The Office of Marketing and Communications is dedicated to using College resources and funds in the most efficient way possible, and can help you get the most for your money.
