Meredith Student Crowned Miss North Carolina Meredith student Hailey Best is the new Miss North Carolina. Best won the title representing Durham during the Miss North Carolina competition on Saturday, June 25, 2011. She will participate in the Miss America pageant in January. Best is a vocal performance major at Meredith, and recently sang one of the leading roles in Benjamin Britten’s “Turn of the Screw.” She won the Miss North Carolina preliminary talent competition by singing opera.
