Service Project to Support Women's Organizations
In conjunction with President Maureen Hartford’s Blue Cross and Blue Shield Lecture on February 28, the Office of Student Leadership and Service and the Major Events Committee are coordinating a service project to support women’s organizations.
During February, Meredith College will collect clothing and monetary donations for Dress for Success and Abbeygail’s Closet, organizations that focus on supporting women in the local community. This project will allow the campus to emphasize the importance of women’s leadership and to make an impact on the lives of local women.
The Triangle affiliate of Dress for Success, started by Meredith alumna Pat Nathan, provides disadvantaged women with professional attire and employment assistance. Abbeygail’s Closet is a local thrift store managed by the Women’s Center of Wake County. It is the social enterprise of the organization and exists to fund their programs and services that include assistance to low income and homeless women and children in Wake County.
Donations will be collected throughout February in Cate Center, Johnson Hall and Jones Chapel. Bins will be at these locations beginning February 1.
