Students Share Their Favorite On- and Off-Campus Spots As part of our summer series, Meredith College’s Office of Admissions asked a group of rising sophomores, juniors and seniors to talk about their favorite places on Meredith’s campus, and in the local area. Today’s Question: What’s your favorite place, on and off campus? •“The Cate Student Center. I meet all of my friends in between classes to have lunch. We also catch up on some of our favorite shows while there.”—Danielle Stott, ’11 •“Cameron Village”--Sydney Sauers, ’12 •“On campus I go on walks on the greenway a lot. It’s a really beautiful trail in the spring and fall and I know it’s safe. I love that I can walk just around campus or all the way to the NC Art Museum. Off campus my friends and I go to Glenwood a lot and go to The Cupcake Shop (which is amazing…I highly recommend the strawberry) and Revolver, which is a vintage and designer thrift store. I found the cutest vintage Lilly Pulitzer dress there last week!” –Emily Pappas, ’12 • “Off campus: The Royal Bean, right across the street from Meredith. On campus: 2nd Cate Center, where the Bee Hive and lounge area is. My room is also a very cozy and comfortable place for me to be.” —Chloe Williams, ’13 •“On campus, I love to hang out in the parlor or my room. Off campus, I love going to Royal Bean, the coffee shop right across Hillsborough Street. It’s a great place to go with friends to hang out or to go get homework done.” –Allison Huber, ’12 •“My favorite hangout spot on campus is definitely the Meredith Beach (when it’s warm outside). It’s a great place to hang out with friends outside, catch some rays, maybe work on some homework. It’s nice to get outside with friends and have some fun in your own “backyard”. Off campus, I like Crabtree Valley Mall. There are tons of places to eat and shop. You can go by yourself for retail therapy or with a group of girlfriends to have a nice dinner.” —Christina Cole, ’13 •“The math common room in the Science and Mathematics Building (SMB) is my favorite. I like this spot particularly because this is where I meet all my close friends at Meredith, and we call each other SMB girls. I like this spot because it is close to most of my classes, and also it is quiet enough for studying. We also use this spot for having fun; for example, my friends surprised me with a birthday cake there, so this place really means a lot to me.”—Zeenat Razvi, ’13 •“My favorite hangout spot would probably be the Cup-a-Joe on Avent Ferry (in Mission Valley Shopping Center) and on campus, it would be a certain little garden – but you’ll have to find that on your own!” –Kristen Gallagher, ’13 •“On campus The Bee Hive and off campus my friends and I just like to just go downtown to Raleigh Times or go to Village Deli or Draft house in Cameron Village and sit outside, eat, and hang out!” –Allie Hargrove, ’11 To find out more about Meredith’s campus, click here to check out our virtual tour.
