First Iron Chef Meredith Competition Nov. 18
The first Iron Chef Meredith Competition will be held November 18 from 5-7 p.m. in 144/146 Martin Hall.
The competition begins at 5:15, with dinner served at 6 p.m.
The event will be hosted by graduate students and undergraduates in Meredith’s Foods & Nutrition program who are enrolled in the Food Service Management class.
Based on the popular Food Network show, the event theme will be “Challenge Farmers Market.” Students will be required to prepare and serve a three course meal for 30 people using local food. A panel of four judges has been invited.
Guests will enjoy a local and seasonal three-course meal featuring: roasted pork tenderloin with braised apples, winter greens, and root vegetable medley, or the vegetarian option, which features parpadelle pasta with caramelized butternut squash, goat cheese, and toasted pecans.
Arrive at 5:15 p.m. to watch the competition while enjoying passed hors d'oeuvres and mocktails, or at 6 p.m. for dinner.
Tickets: General admission is $20, VIP Admission is $25. Tickets will be on sale in the Cate Center lobby on Wednesday, Nov. 11, Thursday, Nov. 12 from 1-2:30 p.m., and Friday, Nov. 13 from 2-3 p.m.
