National Geographic Photographer Lecture Oct 15 Meredith College will host an evening with internationally acclaimed photojournalist and National Geographic photographer Gerd Ludwig on October 15. Ludwig's lecture, “A Great Photograph Touches the Soul and Broadens the Mind,” will be held in Jones Auditorium at 6 p.m. The lecture, which is sponsored by Canon USA and the Canon Explorers of Light Program, is free and open to the public. Gerd Ludwig has photographed in over 70 countries while working primarily for National Geographic magazine since 1989. Additionally, his photographs have appeared in Time, Life, Newsweek, Fortune, Geo, Stern and countless other publications around the globe. His 10-year retrospective, “Broken Empire: After the Fall of the U.S.S.R.”, published by National Geographic, has garnered international acclaim. Ludwig is a Canon Explorer of Light, one of only 60 photographers so honored. He has lectured and exhibited worldwide and won numerous awards, including The Lucie Award for International Photographer of the Year in 2006.
