Meredith to Host a Taste of Kenya The Meredith community is invited to experience “A Taste of Kenya,” in honor of Nobel Laureate Wangari Maathai’s visit to Meredith. “A Taste of Kenya” is a fundraiser for the Meredith Nutrition and Wellness Association. The event will be held October 1 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in Martin Hall, room 144/146. Attendees will enjoy a meal of authentic Kenyan cuisine, Kenyan music and a slide show featuring the people, nature and wildlife in Kenya. The menu features traditional Kenyan dishes such as Chapati (traditional African fry bread), Mukimo (mixed vegetable dish), Sukuma Wiki (spiced sautéed greens), Masala (meat or chickpeas in a light curry), Maandazi (Kenyan style donuts) and Kenyan tea. This event is open to Meredith students, faculty and staff. Dinner guests will have reserved seating for Wangari Maathai’s lecture in McIver Amphitheater. Cost is $20 for faculty/staff and $15 for students. Tickets are on sale only on Friday, Sept. 18 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. in Cate Student Center.
