Update on Meredith College 2009-10 Budget

Meredith College’s budget committee, which was expanded this year to include broader representation from the campus community, presented the proposed 2009-10 operating budget during campus forums on April 17, 2009.

The budget presented was built around a set of planning assumptions that included conservative enrollment and revenue projections warranted by the economic recession. Guidelines established by the Meredith Board of Trustees, the College’s governing body, were incorporated into the planning assumptions.

The overarching priorities guiding the decision making were
  • to maintain the quality of the overall student experience at Meredith;
  • to keep Meredith as affordable as possible for students and their families;
  • to protect full-time faculty and staff positions as much as possible while striving for a 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio; and
  • to maintain as strong an employee benefit package as possible.
