Meredith Hosting FuHsing Program This summer marks the beginning of the Meredith College Global Education Initiative program with the Taipei FuHsing Private School from Taiwan. The program dates are July 1-23, 2008. The initiative promises to be a program of partnerships that bring young international students and others to the Meredith campus for recruitment and global awareness. Forty participants from Taiwan's FuHsing School are participating in the residential program at Meredith. A variety of academic subject areas help the students to focus on English language proficiency. This year's topics include science and technology, American culture and history, and sports. Students will have opportunities to experience American customs, participate in an active learning environment and gain a better understanding of "real life" in America. Danny Green, Meredith's associate vice president for enrollment, is serving as the Meredith College Global Education Initiative Program director. The initiative was developed at the urging of alumna Phoenix Chen Haydon, ’74, to increase Meredith's global participation in Asian cultures. Haydon calls the FuHsing Program an example of Meredith's commitment to global education, with benefits for FuHsing students and Meredith students alike. Posted July 7, 2008.
