Media Services purchases audiovisual
equipment for the college community and DVDs, videotapes and
music CDs for the library collection. We also circulate: camcorders,
LCD projectors, laptops for presentations, overhead and slide
projectors, video editing systems and more – over 2,000
pieces of audiovisual equipment each year. We train users, and
we provide classroom support for faculty and students –
helping with LCD projection, making emergency "house calls"
and expediting repairs. We also maintain a hot roll laminator
for the Meredith community.
MCTV, Meredith’s Cable TV system, is also part of Media
Services. MCTV maintains three on-campus TV channels:
- Channel 5 – a 24-hour
electronic notice board,
- Channel 10 – arts and
educational programming, and
- Channel 11 – SCOLA, (foreign
language) international news programming.
MCTV also oversees the video production
area. Each year Media Services/MCTV produces many videotapes
& DVD’s for the college archives, campus organizations,
and academic programs. The Cable Administrator also trains and
provides ongoing support to faculty and students creating their
own video projects. MCTV and the video production area are located
on the ground floor of the library.
