We will celebrate the expansion of the library's children's collection, honoring Janet Groomer for her significant support of both the collection
and the College's Education Department. Award winning children's author and poet Carole Boston Weatherford will speak. Many of her
books deal with pivotal events and personalities of the Civil Rights Movement and the end of slavery in America. Moses, for example, is a
powerful evocation of Harriet Tubman. Weatherford says, "My poetry, nonfiction and historical fiction are inspired by oral traditions and
informed by my African-American heritage."
For more information, visit Weatherford's website where you can read more about her background and review her books.
