Can I give copies
of a journal article to my class?
It depends. If this is the first time you have used the article for the class
and if you do not have time to get permission to copy the article before you need
to use it in class, you can probably distribute the article. Read
the University of Texas discussion of classroom copying for more details.
One thing to keep in mind is that many journal
articles are now available online through the library. You can refer your students
to these online resources to
retrieve and read the article for themselves and avoid most copyright issues related
to this topic.
