My name is Tiffany McCord. I am 19 years old and a sophomore at NC Wesleyan College. I am double majoring in math and biology and perusing a certificate in secondary education. I plan to either be a high school math teacher or further my education at some sort of medical school. I'm still undecided.
I am from Polk County, North Carolina, a small yet homely area near the mountains. I grew up there and as a result have acquired many of the traditional characteristics of being southern. I speak with an accent and use a southern dialect; I'm extremely polite but unafraid to speak my mind; I enjoy the outdoors, horses, animals, farming, and four wheelers, and I'm not afraid of getting dirty; I am a family oriented person and I get homesick a lot. I've always been told that growing up in Polk County was a blessing to me; that's the type of place that it is.
I chose to go to NC Wesleyan College because it is a small campus, much like my high school. I was also awarded the Valedictorian Scholarship and other financial aide, which was a big deal to me and my family. I am an athlete, so the athletic program also appealed to me. I play both basketball and softball for the Battling Bishops. The people at Wesleyan are also very nice and approachable, something I thought was necessary on a college campus.
I'm taking BIO 495- East African Wildlife as an honors course. I am eager to learn how Kenya is different and similar to us at Wesleyan.
