Child Development Careers and Graduate Studies

Students graduating from the child development program are prepared to work in a variety of settings serving young children and their families. Alumnae are currently employed as consultants for the Division of Child Development, classroom teachers, early interventionists, administrators of community programs (such as YMCA) and child life specialists. They are also involved in quality enhancement initiatives, childcare resource and referral and childcare administration.

Meredith graduates have pursued graduate study in child development, child life, allied health professions (such as speech therapy and physical therapy), psychology, social work, education and nursing. Recent graduate school placements include UNC-CH, UNC-G, ECU and Erickson Institute.
