Career Resources

success storiesMeredith’s MBA is a part-time, evening program for students who are currently employed. Most of our students receive support from their employer—personally and often financially—in their academic pursuit of an MBA. In addition, many of our students have strong roots in the RTP area and seek personal and career growth within this limited geographic region. Due to these unique characteristics of our typical student, we provide a customized job search program with many different types of services, which include job placement.

Our primary focus is to provide resources that can be used by any student, but which support and create opportunities to enhance current careers or move up within a current company or industry. If you want to advance within your current employment, our Career Center provides resources and services to help you get noticed. Individualized services for MBA students include personal assessments, resume critique and development, and career counseling and coaching. Since MBA students have varying backgrounds and multiple roles that affect their career decisions and direction, experienced counselors work individually with MBA students to provide customized services.

In addition, executives from our Business Advisory Board also offer individualized career mentoring by appointment. Students also can meet one-on-one for Career Management consultations with a member of our Business Advisory Board to discuss topics such as getting on the “fast track” and identifying problems that are inhibiting career growth.

For MBA students seeking a new position, the Career Center staff helps focus on identifying career direction, conducting a job search, and exploring career management issues. Programs and tools include opportunities to meet employers (either on campus or at career fairs), resume referral, personal assessment and testing, resume and cover letter development, and interview preparation.

Recent employers that have visited our campus to recruit are Ford Motor Company, Credit Suisse, Cisco, BB&T, Merck Pharmaceutical, and BlueCross/BlueShield. Also, through our Business Advisory Board and our MBA alumni, we have established connections in place for those who want to explore other employment options.
