N.C. Wesleyan Moves to Championship Game
USA South Men's Soccer Semifinals - Nov. 6
Martinsville, Va. - No. 2 North Carolina Wesleyan advanced to the USA South Men’s Soccer Championship with a 2-1 victory over No. 3 Methodist in a defensive battle in the second semifinal match of the USA South Athletic Conference men’s soccer tournament at the Smith River Sports Complex in Martinsville, Virginia.

Robert Ivanovich of the Battling Bishops (11-7) chipped in the second goal to seal the 2-1 win for NC Wesleyan with just under seven minutes remaining in regulation. Arkadiusz Trochowski earned his second assist on the play.

Methodist’s (10-10) Bret Brennan initiated the scoring in the nightcap with a 25-yard shot in the 19th minute of the match.

The Battling Bishops tied the game with just under three minutes to go before the intermission. Ousman Sarr punched in a corner kick from Trochowski.

North Carolina Wesleyan advances to Saturday’s conference championship slated for a 5:00 pm start.
