Business, Interior Design Focus on Green Revolutio Bookmark and Share
Meredith’s RBC Business/Interior Design Greenprint Week will be held September 15-19, 2008. The week’s theme, “Leading the Green Revolution,” is designed to supplement Meredith College’s 2008-09 environmental awareness campus theme.

RBC Business/Interior Design Greenprint Week will include panel discussions, lectures and other special events to explore sustainable business and design practices that maximize economic, social and environmental outcomes.

The following sessions of RBC Business/Interior Design Greenprint Week are open to the entire Meredith community.

Monday, Sept. 15
10 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Carswell Auditorium

Panel Discussion: “Building a Culture of Sustainability” with speakers Katherine Henderson, Associate, Sustainable Planning and Development, Cherokee Investment Partners; Martha Gettys, Business Development Manager of NC GreenPower; and Mike Nuckolls, Institutional Specialist, Specialized Markets, Shaw Contract Group.

Tuesday, Sept. 16
5:30 p.m. Reception
6 p.m. Lecture
Kresge Auditorium

Joyce LaValle, senior vice president of customer and associate engagement, InterfaceFLOR, will present a lecture titled “Mission Zero.” Mission Zero is Interface's mission to become sustainable and reduce and/or eliminate its environmental footprint by the year 2020.

Wednesday, September 17

Laura Rowell, director of sustainable packaging and corporate stewardship for MeadWestvaco, will speak to business classes at 8 a.m. in 110 Harris, at 9 a.m. in 214 Harris and at 11 a.m. in 102 Harris. Drop-ins welcome.

Friday, Sept. 19
10 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Harris Building Lobby

Closing ceremony with green theme foods and products, including giveaways.

In addition to the events that are open to the Meredith community, Meredith MBA students, and students in participating business and interior design classes will complete the “Campus GreenGame,” a daylong seminar that will result in green living action steps that can be put into place at Meredith.

Other events for business and interior design students include a field trip to MEZ, North Carolina’s first LEED certified restaurant, and a panel discussion on “Leading the Green Revolution.”

The 2008 RBC Business/Interior Design Greenprint Week is sponsored by Meredith’s School of Business and the Interior Design Program, with support by RBC Bank and Pearce, Brinkley, Cease + Lee Architecture.
