Hayley McPhail Earns Community Impact Award Bookmark and Share
Meredith College senior Hayley McPhail recently received the second annual North Carolina Campus Compact Community Impact Student Award.

The award was presented to McPhail during the annual N.C. Campus Compact Student Conference held at East Carolina University. This award is presented each year to students who have made significant, innovative contributions to campus-based efforts to address community needs.

McPhail is one of 26 college students from across North Carolina to be recognized for their outstanding achievements. Corporation for National and Community Service CEO David Eisner and NC Campus Compact Executive Director Lisa Keyne presented the awards during the conference’s Awards Presentation before an audience of more than 350 college students representing 29 schools and two states.

McPhail, who is earning a major in social work, is the founder and president of the Meredith Habitat for Humanity Club, and is leading the effort to build a Meredith Habitat house. She is active in getting students, staff and faculty involved in fundraising efforts, as well as organizing Habitat work days for students to serve in the Raleigh community. It is her vision that after the house is built, the Meredith community will maintain a relationship with the family, working with the homeowners and mentoring the children. After graduation, McPhail plans to earn a Master of Social Work degree.

North Carolina Campus Compact is a growing statewide coalition of higher education presidents and chancellors in North Carolina established to encourage and support campus engagement in the community.
