Local freshman forward Kim Hinton earned USA South Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week honors as announced Monday from the league office. Hinton helped Meredith College to a 1-1 record during the team's opening week. After taking a loss to St. Mary's (Md.) before Thanksgiving, the Avenging Angels overcame a 15-point deficit to defeat visiting Emory & Henry Saturday afternoon.
Hinton came off the bench during both contests to average 9.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. In a 73-48 loss to the Seahawks, Hinton tallied eight points, three rebounds and one steal. She totaled 10 points in 71% shooting and added three rebounds in the 80-79 victory over the Wasps.
