Cross country Ends Season with Solid Finish Bookmark and Share
The Meredith College cross country squad ended the 2012 season with a solid finish at this weekend's NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Championships. Among the 184 individual runners, senior Avenging Angel Morgan Youd placed 35th earning her all-region honors for the second consecutive year.

Youd's time of 24:03.42 marked her fastest pace this season. Head Coach Amy Olsen said, "she really put everything that we've been working on into action and finished her career with her best race. It seemed that Morgan knew how to handle [the pressure], and, hopefully, the freshmen learned for their future."

With a time of 26:02.01, freshman Allie Gallagher led the trio of rookies who consistently followed Youd's footsteps throughout the season. Illa Jones and Maggie Robinson crossed the finish line at 121 and 131 with times of 26:40.00 and 27:04.59, respectively.

Rounding out the seven Avenging Angels were senior Megan Beebe (135th, 27:10.98), Ashley Kate Kesler (136th, 27:12.57) and Lara Pantlin (137th, 27:20.80).

The Trinity University (Tex.) women claimed the title in today's race with host Emory University finishing second to qualify for next weekend's NCAA Division III Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. Mary Baldwin's Sophia Stone won the women's race to qualify for the national meet representing the USA South.   More Details
