The Meredith College Avenging Angels are set to host the Piedmont Lions in the opening round of the USA South conference tournament Saturday afternoon. First kick is slated for 2:30 p.m. at the Meredith Athletic Field on October 27.
Meredith secured a fourth place finish in regular season standings losing only to the top three seeds, Averett--undefeated in the USA South, Maryville and Christopher Newport.
The top eight conference finishers earned a bid in the 2012 tournment. Semifinalists will head to the Smith River Sports Complex in Martinsville, Virginia, November 2, to compete in neutral territory for the championship.
NOTE: The USA South charges admission to all tournament contests, including Saturday's quarterfinals hosted by each of the top four seeded league institutions.
