Nancy Williams Cheek graduated from Meredith College in 1963 with an A.B. in English and a N.C. Elementary Teachers Certification. She earned her Master of Education from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1967.She has served on the Meredith Alumnae Board as a regional director and on the Board of Associates as a member of the Outreach Committee. During numerous terms on the Board of Trustees, she has served as vice chair and Chair of the Board, and as a member of the Presidential Search Committee.
Cheek was an elementary school teacher for 28 years and Director of the International Baccalaureate Primary Schools Program at Burton Elementary School in Durham, N.C. She is retired and serving as an Augustine Literacy Project Tutor serving low income children in the public schools.
She served on the Chapel Hill Service League, receiving the Chain of Service Award. Cheek has also served as a Binkley Baptist Church deacon, chair of Diaconate, chair of numerous committees and member of search committees.
