Profile

Jason Newport teaches first-year composition and critical reading and writing in the Meredith English department. As a Fulbright instructor and researcher at the University of Pécs, Hungary, he taught creative writing and postcolonial literature in the university’s Institute of English, gave guest lectures at other Hungarian universities and high schools, and conducted archive and field research. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing (Fiction) from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where he taught introductory creative writing. He has also designed or revised online courses and taught first- and second-year composition and information literacy for the Southwestern College Professional Studies program. For eight years he has served on the editorial staff of the Chautauqua literary journal. He holds a BA in English from University of Maryland University College.
