Community Day of Dance: January 21st, 2012 8:30AM-1:00PM

Community Day of Dance (formerly known as Studio Day of Dance) is a fundraiser produced by Nu Delta Alpha, the honor society for Dance, that gives dancers in the community a chance to take classes and share their choreographic works with Meredith Dance students. Classes will include beginning to advanced levels of modern, ballet, jazz, tap, and a classes for children specially designed to introduce them (and their parents) to dance class. Children's Festival 2011-2012: Sunday, September 10th, 2011
The Children's Festival is curated each year from among Triangle Area youth companies, preferably pre-professional. As college companies are not considered for the NC Dance Festival tour or main festival concert, they are considered for the Children's Festival. The primary considerations are skill level and genre, so each concert has a mix of western and non-western forms, including rhythmic forms. Beginning with the 2010 festival, we would like to formalize the invitation process and widen our selection pool to include companies that might have less exposure than others. Companies receive a very small stipend for their performance and a fully produced show. If you would like to be considered for invitation to the Children's Festival, please send your information in one of the following ways. We will begin looking at companies for the 2011 festival on June 8th and continue until it is booked. Please note that this is still an invitational process, not an "acceptance" and "rejection" process. We will keep your information on file as we curate the show each year, so updates to your information as you win awards, create major new works, etc. are encouraged. A reminder is sent about this time each year asking for updated information if you have it.

Affiliate Artist Program

The Affiliate Artist program is designed to support regional dance artists in the creation of new work for the NC Dance Festival in Raleigh, and to foster the relationship between local dance artists and the Meredith Dance Program.

The NC Dance Festival at Meredith is moving to September! Since the calendar is shifting so dramativally, the affiliate artist will not create new work, or have rehearsal space at Meredith in a significant way for 2011. Instead...

We will accept applications for the 2012-2013 season until August 15th, 2011. The 2012-13 Affiliate Artist will have the opportunity to rehearse intensively at Meredith College from October 2011-September 2012. They will perform up to 12 minutes on the North Carolina Dance Festival Raleigh concert and should therefore be working in the Triangle area. Affiliate Artists and up to three company members will receive class passes for technique classes for both Fall and Spring semester. Exact rehearsal times and class arrangements will be arranged with the Affiliate Artist upon acceptance. Stipend for the Affiliate Artist will be $200.

2. Required: 10–20 minute sample of choreography including at least one full, un-edited work of at least 4 minutes. VHS or DVD accepted
3. Required: An artist statement of 200 words or less that describes your current choreographic interests

5. Optional: return, postage paid envelope if you would like materials returned to you
