The Dance Program at Meredith Announces Community Dance Classes at Meredith, Fall
2008.

CLASS PASSES
Purchase 10-class class passes for non-credit dance classes or for credit-based dance
classes as space allows. Ten-class passes: $150; $75 for Meredith Faculty, Staff, and
Students. More than one class pass may be purchased.

Register online with a credit card at www.meredith.edu/communityprograms, print a
registration form online and mail it in with a check, or call (919) 760-8450 to register by
phone.

NON-CREDIT DANCE CLASSES
The focus is fun and fitness in these classes designed to give dancers from a range of
backgrounds experiences in many dance forms. Use the class pass system to take one or
both classes.

HIP-HOP for intermediate dancers
10 classes: Mondays 5:30-7:00 September 8th-November 10th
Weatherspoon Gym Dance Studio

AFRICAN for beginning dancers
10 classes: Wednesdays 5:30-7:00 September 10th-November 12th
Weatherspoon Gym Dance Studio
Instructor: Fareedha Appah, formerly of the African American Dance Ensemble

Passes may be used for either class. These classes cannot be taken for college credit.

CREDIT-BASED CLASSES
When space allows, the class pass may be used for regular credit-based classes in the
Meredith College Dance Program by permission of the Director of Dance. Email Carol
Finley at finleyc@meredith.edu to check availability and schedule for Modern, Ballet, and
Jazz levels I and III.

Affiliate Artist Program
The Affiliate Artist program is designed to support regional dance
artists in the creation of new work for the NC Dance Festival in
Raleigh, and to foster the relationship between local dance artists
and the Meredith Dance Program. The 2008-09 Affiliate Artist is
Anna Milling of Raleigh. She will present her work on the NC Dance
Festival Concert Friday and Saturday January 23rd and 24th, 2009
at 8p.m. in Jones Auditorium.

We will accept applications for the 2009-2010 season from
February 15th-April 15th, 2009. The 2009-10 Affiliate Artist will have
the opportunity to rehearse intensively at Meredith College during two
weeks in August 2009, one week during December 2009, and weekly
from August to the end of January 2010. They will perform up to 12 minutes
on the North Carolina Dance Festival Raleigh concert and should therefore be
working in the Triangle area. Affiliate Artists and up to three company members
will receive class passes for technique classes for both Fall and Spring
semester. Exact rehearsal times and class arrangements will be
arranged with the Affiliate Artist upon acceptance. Stipend for the
Affiliate Artist will be $200.

1. Required: Current professional vita
2. Required: 10-20 minute sample of choreography including at least
one full, un-edited work of at least 4 minutes. VHS or DVD accepted
3. Required: An artist statement of 200 words or less that describes
your current choreographic interests

5. Optional: return, postage paid envelope if you would like materials
returned to you
