Preparation steps for graduate school:
- Arrange to take one or more standardized admissions tests. Test booklets are located in our Career Center Resource Room and online.
- Clarify your professional goals and determine how those goals can best be served in a graduate program.
- Determine if graduate school is the right option for you.
- Gather the appropriate letters of recommendation and academic transcripts.
- Gather information from schools and programs that interest you.
- Research potential schools and programs that meet your specific criteria.
- Write your personal essay/statement for admission into the program(s) of your choice. Career counselors are available to proofread your application and personal statement.
- Attend a Career Center graduate school workshop to determine if graduate school is right for you, to understand the application process, and to learn how to write a personal statement for your application. View times, dates and locations on the workshops calendar.
Standardized Admission Tests
Graduate/professional schools will instruct you as to which standardized admission test they
require for admission. Oftentimes these programs will also indicate what is considered to be
a competitive score. The following links will direct you to the official sites of admission
tests and will provide information about the test: an overview of the test, registration
information, suggestions for test preparation and details on test scoring.
