
Isa Ward Byrum was a student at Meredith College in the school’s earliest days. Thanks to a $1 million gift from her son, Porter Byrum, she will have an impact on Meredith students well into the future. The Meredith College community celebrated this gift when Porter Byrum visited campus on September 20, 2012.

The gift will support need-based financial assistance for Meredith students. Byrum said his mother “believed in education and her dream was for all her sons to get an education. I hope this money will help other mothers’ dreams also come true.”
Meredith College is participating in the Southeast Shakeout on October 18, 2012, at 10:18 a.m. The Southeast Shakeout is an earthquake preparedness drill.
The event is an opportunity to practice “Drop, Cover and Hold On,” which emergency management experts recommend as the best way to reduce injury during earthquakes. more
Meredith’s connections with Sansepolcro, Italy, began 20 years ago when students first studied abroad there, and the College established a semester abroad program in Sansepolcro in 2009.
Since that time, Meredith College has become a part of the local community. more
