Presidential Search Update

Johnson Hall The Meredith College Board of Trustees has begun its work to find President Maureen Hartford’s successor. Hartford will retire in June of 2011 after 12 years as Meredith’s president. 

 

Meredith faculty and staff are invited to give input on the qualifications and characteristics that should be considered by the Presidential Search committee as it develops the profile for Meredith’s eighth president.

 

Representatives from the presidential search firm Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates, LLC , will visit campus October 12-13 to meet with Meredith faculty, staff, students and alumnae. Faculty and staff sessions are scheduled for Wednesday, October 13 at the following times:

 

Faculty Input Session: 10-11 a.m., Kresge Auditorium 
Staff Input Session: 1-2 p.m., Kresge Auditorium

 

Search Committee Members
Sam Ewell, Board of Trustees chair, announced in June that Trustee Elizabeth Triplett Beam, ’72, will chair the Presidential Search Committee. Trustee Nancy Cheek, ’63, is Search Committee vice chair. They are joined by Ewell, who is an ex-officio member of the committee, and five other members of the Board of Trustees: Alex Holmes, Randall Lolley, Maureen O’Connor, Deborah Dove Smith, ’80, and C.C. Wiggins, ’76.

 

The Presidential Search Committee also includes representatives from all Meredith College constituencies.

 

Faculty representatives are Monica McKinney, professor of education, and Beth Mulvaney, professor of art history. Staff are represented by Melyssa Allen, news director. Alumnae are represented by Alumnae Association President Deborah Jordan Matthews, ’74, and the student representative is Beth Howard, ’11.

 

Updates, survey invitations and announcements about the process will be shared through emails from Elizabeth Beam, ’72, on behalf of the search committee. Informational updates will also be posted to www.meredith.edu/presidential-search.  

 

Faculty and staff are invited to share their thoughts with the search committee by emailing the search committee chair at presidentialsearch@meredith.edu.
