President’s Dinner for Retired Employees Held

Retired Employees Dinner

President Jo Allen hosted a special dinner for retired members of Meredith’s faculty and staff on Friday, September 23, 2011.

The event was attended by 68 retired employees and their guests. Among those on the guest list were Professor Emerita of Biology Janice Swab, Professor Emerita of Art Linda FitzSimons , retired Career Center Director Gordon Folger, former Director of the Re-Entry Program Anne Dahle and Professor Emeritus of Religion and former Vice President for Academic Programs Allen Page.

The dinner’s purpose was to offer these members of the Meredith community an opportunity to meet President Allen and to reconnect with the College. Some of those attending had not been back to campus since their retirements.

Meredith’s Institutional Advancement Division helped organize the dinner.

Astra Barnes, director of advancement services, said her office heard positive reviews from those who attended.

“They enjoyed seeing each other, as well as meeting the president,” Barnes said. “The most common comment that we heard during the night was how grateful they felt that we cared enough to have a special event just for them.”
