Senior Visitation Day Brings 120 to Campus
Submitted by Grace Sugg

The second Senior Visitation Day of the year was held on Monday, October 29.  The event brought 120 high school seniors and their families to campus to attend classes and academic sessions, take campus tours and meet current students, faculty and staff.

The Office of Admissions appreciates the efforts of the entire campus community in helping to make this event a success for our visitors.  Many strong connections were established during the day, and enthusiasm for Meredith was in the air!  Thank you to the faculty and staff for your help in recruiting the Class of 2017.

The third Senior Visitation Day of the year will be held on Monday, January 28.

Nominate a Student for the First John Creagh Memorial Scholarship Award

Meredith faculty/staff are invited to nominate students for the first John Creagh Memorial Scholarship Award. John Creagh was a beloved Meredith faculty member of theater and communication for 23 years, before he succumbed to cancer just before Easter 2007. Thanks to donations from Dr. Creagh’s family, students, friends, and colleagues, a grant of $1,200 is anticipated, to be awarded for spring semester 2013.

All students with a demonstrated interest in communication, theater, and literature are invited to apply. Students who contribute to the diversity of the college are particularly encouraged to apply.

Applications and nominations must be completed by Nov 26. Each application should consist of an application letter (one page) by the student and a letter of nomination and support by a faculty or staff member of the college community. Students may pick up an application form from faculty members in Communication, Theatre, and English. Please deliver applications and accompanying nominations to Cindy Bell, Administrative Assistant, Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities, Joyner 230.

Borrow-a-Bike Program Off to a Strong Start
Meredith’s Borrow-a-Bike program has loaned the bikes to twelve students since October 10.

“We are happy with this activity and hope to see even more students, faculty, and staff borrowing the Meredith bikes,” said Director of Health Services Sherri Henderson.

Bikes can be borrowed on weekdays from the Fitness Center and on weekends from Campus Police at the gate house.  For more information about the Borrow-a-Bike program go to the Wellness Webpage at http://www.meredith.edu/wellness/Borrowabike.htm.
