Early Sunday morning, Nov. 4, three Meredith music faculty—Fran Page, Jim Waddelow and Kent Lyman—and 35 music students boarded the bus in front of Johnson Hall for the Meredith Ensembles Tour. On day one of the 3-day tour, Meredith’s five music ensembles performed at St. John’s Baptist Church in Charlotte, where they were warmly welcomed by Charlotte area alumnae and introduced by President Jo Allen, ’80. Several Institutional Advancement staff also attended.
On Monday and Tuesday, the tour group visited two Charlotte schools, Ardrey Kell High School and Charlotte Country Day High School, Williams High School in Burlington, and East Alamance High School in Mebane, where they performed, answered students’ questions and acted as ambassadors for the College. Their concert repertoire included works of Saint-Saëns, Mozart, Joel, Debussy and Stroope performed by The Meredith Chorale, The Sinfonietta, The Four Winds Flute Ensemble, Octavia! and Encore!
