The annual open enrollment period during which Meredith College employees sign up for benefits is underway. Open enrollment ends Wednesday, November 24 at noon. All employees are required to complete a new health enrollment form.
Human Resources hosted a Benefits Fair on October 20 to share information with employees about benefit changes for the upcoming year, and have hosted several information sessions about health insurance and retirement planning options.
Director of Human Resources Pam Davis shared the following information about health insurance changes in an email to campus.
“For 2011, BCBS announced we were facing an 11.8% health insurance increase, which is fairly consistent for the market as a whole, but certainly not what we were hoping for. The Benefits Committee worked hard, and met many times, to find workable solutions. Our priorities were to meet financial needs, to offer employees options and to make at least one option available without premiums for the employee only coverage.”
Two health insurance options will be available for 2011. Meredith College will continue to offer the Health Savings Account (HSA) plan, and will also offer a PPO plan that is a blending of the College’s current PPO options, with some significant improvements, including lower out-of-pocket amounts and preventative care covered at 100%.
A summary of benefit changes is available on the Human Resources website at www.meredith.edu/humres/BenefitOpenEnrollmentfor2011.htm.
