
Meredith College is adding lacrosse as its seventh varsity sport. The Avenging Angels newest team will begin play in the 2012-13 academic year. Meredith is the first college or university within the City of Raleigh to offer women’s lacrosse as a varsity sport.
The team will compete at the Meredith Athletic Field and Track Complex, where President Jo Allen made the announcement on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011. Built in 2009, the complex includes a state-of-the-art soccer and lacrosse facility with a FieldTurf surface and Daktronics scoreboard.
“What athletics brings to us is an ongoing story of power, especially for women,” Allen said. “The addition of this new sport at Meredith allows us to build on our strengths.”more
Meredith College has announced the launch of the Meredith College Teaching Fellows program. The Meredith College Teaching Fellows will provide a minimum $6,500 academic award to highly qualified high school seniors who are committed to teaching as a profession.more

When Meredith Associate Professor of Business Jane Barnes decided to take part in the 2010 N.C. Senior Games, her goal was “just to participate” in the athletic competition. She exceeded her expectations, winning the 100 meter and 200 meter races, and setting a Senior Games record in the 100 meters. more
Meredith Fashion Design Instructor Eunyoung Yang won first place in an international design competition held at the International Textiles and Apparel Association, November 2-5, 2011, in Philadelphia. more
